First National Bank Tower at 400 Texas was officially added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 16, 2026.

Andrea McCarthy, with Louisiana State Office of Historic Preservation and Scott Heath, lead consultant with Williams Architects in New Orleans, informed the Shreveport DDA that effective Oct. 16th, 2026, 400 Texas St. (as referred to as the “First National Bank Tower”) has officially been listed on the National Preservation Register. Scott Heath, at Williams Architects, stated, “ We at Williams Architects sincerely appreciate your assistance in making this happen. The information and goodwill that you and your organization provided were instrumental in achieving this milestone.”
The First National Bank Tower joins other historic buildings in downtown Shreveport, such as the Old Commercial National Bank Building and the Petroleum Tower, that are individually listed on the National Register. We would welcome the opportunity to help list other buildings in downtown and help facilitate the ongoing revival of the historic urban core.
The building is now eligible for state and federal historic tax credits, which will assist the owner in making significant building upgrades and renovations.
